Istria is the most northerly part of Croatia’s coastline, and it’s where a number of Croatia’s most popular destinations are located – including Porec and Rovinj – as well as other popular holiday towns such as Umag and Medulin. Pula, with its wonderful sights, including a 1st-century Roman amphitheatre, is the largest town in the region. There is a very wide range of accommodation in Istria – there are plenty of hotels, apartments, villas, private accommodation and even lighthouses that you can stay in!

The main airport in the region is Pula, to where a number of airlines fly to from several UK airports. See our Flights to Croatia from the UK & Ireland page for further details.
For more travel options, and also depending on what resort you go to, you may also consider flying to Trieste or Treviso with Ryanair (and then taking a train/bus to Istria); take a look at our Travelling from Italy to Croatia section for details on how to travel between the two countries.

One of the best is the Grand Hotel Brioni in Pula which has indoor and outdoor pools (the latter being an infinity pool overlooking the sea), five restaurants, a private beach, gorgeous interiors and rooms, a huge luxury spa with amazing treatments and excellent staff.
