Accommodation on Hvar

The wonderful island of Hvar is considered one of Croatia’s most upmarket destinations and is famous for its wonderfully sunny weather and its beautiful lavender. Hvar Town is the premier resort on the island, and there’s plentiful hotel and private accommodation in the town. Stari Grad is as lovely as Hvar Town, although perhaps doesn’t quite get the same visitor numbers, so it’s possibly the place to go to if you want to get away from the popularity of the former. Jelsa is the third main resort on the island; Milna (located very close to Hvar Town) is another option if you’re looking to stay somewhere quiet and relaxing.

There are numerous ferry and catamaran connections from Split to Hvar (plus a less frequent service in summer from and from Dubrovnik), as well as services to the local islands of Brac and Vis, although the latter option is only connected by a once-a-week catamaran.

Accommodation on Hvar – Highlights

Hvar Town

Hvar Town has a number of very stylish options, including the four-star Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel and the Riva Hvar Yacht Harbour Hotel. The four-star Hotel Podstine is a little bit further of a walk outside of the centre of Hvar Town, so more secluded and has its own private beach area.

The four-star Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort has an amazing pool area, and is located very close to the chic Bonj Les Bains beach club.

Stari Grad

The four-star Hotel Antica is probably the best of the small collection of hotels in Stari Grad.

Vrboska

If you’re up for a bit of glamping, there’s the Plage Cachee which has tents sleeping two people, and is right on the beach.
