The wonderful island of Hvar is considered ever so slightly more upmarket than neighbouring Brac, and is famous for its wonderfully sunny weather and its beautiful lavender. Hvar Town is the premier resort on the island, and there's plentiful hotel and private accommodation in the town. Stari Grad is as lovely as Hvar Town, and sometimes overlooked as a destination, so possibly the place to go if you want to get away from the popularity of the former. Jelsa is the third main resort on the island.
There are ferry connections to Split and Dubrovnik from Hvar, as well as to the local islands of Brac and Vis.
