Boutique Hotels in Istria
The 5-star Hotel Lone in Rovinj, opened in 2011 and Croatia’s first “design hotel”, although on the large side, must get a mention. Others right in the heart of Rovinj include the 10-room, 4-star Casa Garzotto, and the famous 4-star Hotel Heritage Angelo D’oro.
Porec offers the 4-star Hotel Mauro, right on the waterfront with gorgeous views of the sea.
The 10-room, 3-star Boutique Hotel Valsabbion is situated in Pjescana Uvala, close to Pula. This relaxing cove is a great base for a laid-back type of holiday. Alternatively, the 3-star Hotel Amfiteatar is located right in the town (and couldn’t be closer to Pula’s Arena – hence the name).
The 4-star Hotel Villa Annette with just 12 rooms is located on a hill over-looking the town of Rabac, which is on the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula.
Boutique Hotels in the Kvarner Riviera
Opatija has long had a reputation as an upmarket resort, so it’s no surprise that a number of fine boutique hotels are located here! Take your pick from the luxurious, 5-star Hotel Mozart or the 4-star Hotel Savoy or Astoria Design Hotel.
The 4-star Atrium Residence Baska in the town of Baska on the island of Krk is one of the options for boutique living in the islands in this region.
Boutique Hotels in Northern Dalmatia
As befits the lovely town of Zadar, there are a number of fancy accommodation options. Pick of the boutique hotels are the Falkensteiner Hotel Adriana or the Hotel Bastion, both 4-star.
The small Hotel Tisno, in the town of the same name, is located in a building built in 1898.
Boutique Hotels in Central Dalmatia
Baska Voda‘s pretty Hotel Croatia is a 4-star hotel with only 18 rooms, situated close to a number of amenities and a beach.
The main town in this region, Makarska, has a number of boutique hotels. The 4-star Hotel Osejava is a relatively new hotel, furnished in a modern style and with wonderful views. For a smaller, 3-star option, consider the family-run Hotel Maritmo.
Another family-run hotel is the Hotel Marco Polo, located in the town of Gradec. This place is very highly regarded, winning the Best Small Hotel in Croatia in 2009.
Tucepi‘s offering is the 16-room, 4-star Villa Andrea, close to the town centre and to a beach.
On the island of Brac
The 3-star Hotel Villa Adriatica and the 4-star Hotel Amor or Hotel Bracka Perla, all in the town of Supetar on the northern part of Brac offer boutique accommodation on the island – and all have pools!
On the island of Hvar
You’re rather spoilt for choice for boutique hotels on Hvar, especially in Hvar Town! The Riva Hvar Yacht Harbour Hotel overlooks the harbour (as per the name) and offers very stylish and trendy accommodation, perfect for the younger set! The Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel, meanwhile, on the other side of the harbour offers a range of spa facilities and has a rooftop pool. The Palace Hvar Hotel is situated just behind the harbour (although still has great views); those looking to get away from the bustle of the town should consider the Hotel Podstine.
Boutique Hotels In Split
The 4-star and rather stylish Hotel Luxe is located in a superb location in the city, close to the sights and amenities. The Hotel Vestibul Palace & Villa, also 4-star, has only 11 rooms and a great location in the Diocletian’s Palace area, and is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. The Hotel San Antonio (in nearby Podstrana) is another option, especially suitable for those looking for a beach location.
Boutique Hotels in Dubrovnik
Try the ultra-glamorous 5-star Boutique Hotel Kazbek or the Boutique Hotel More, both located on the Lapad peninsula or, for what couldn’t be a better location, the 3-star Hotel Stari Grad and the 5-star Pucic Palace are both located in the Old Town. Just outside the Old Town, the Villa Dubrovnik, Villa Orsula or Villa Glavic (all 5-star) are also all a great choice.
Boutique Hotels in Southern Dalmatia
There’s a number of boutique hotels located in the pretty and relaxing town of Cavtat, south of Dubrovnik. Take a look at the 13-room, 3-star Castelleto or the 4-star Hotel Villa Pattiera.
Boutique Hotels in Zagreb
The 4-star Hotel President, with only seven rooms, has a wonderful design and is definitely worth a look if wanting boutique-style accommodation in the capital.
