Events in March 2026
A region famed for its oysters must have an event dedicated to them – right? Luckily, it does! The Oyster Festival takes place on St Joseph’s Day, 19th March, to 22nd March 2026 in Ston and Mali Ston, when a multitude of oyster dishes can be sampled, along with some local wines. Traditional singing and dancing also take place.
Events in April 2026
Look out for the Easter in Primorje event this month during which Easter will be celebrated in the villages near Dubrovnik with live music, outdoor activities and more.
Events in May 2026
The unique Peljesac Bridge Run is just at it sounds – a race that takes place over the spectacular Peljesac Bridge. It should take place on 29th May 2026.
Events in June 2026
As with many other Croatian coastal towns and cities, Cavtat also has a run of summer events from June to September, featuring concerts, dance performances, street performances and more. All events are free; check locally for full details.
The charming Slano Film Days (16th to 20th June 2026) will feature film screenings (including kids’ films) and workshops and talks led by actors, directors, talent agents, cinematographers and more. Star names often attend the event.
The Festival of Peljesac Flavours takes place in June and July; guests can sample local wines and oysters at restaurants in a number of restaurants in the towns of the Peljesac Peninsula.
Events in July 2026
Zen Opuzen is a street art festival that combines numerous artistic and cultural activities in the town of Opuzen every July. There is usually some stunning sand art displayed (temporarily, of course!) on the banks of the River Neretva.
Cavtat also hosts its Summer Carnival over a weekend in July with plenty of outdoor fun for you to join.
Nera Etwa is a newish festival that’s held in Metkovic in late July, focusing on craft beer – especially produced by breweries based in south Dalmatia.
Events in August 2026
The Maraton Ladja is an annual race that takes place on a 22.5km long portion of the Neretva River from Metkovic to Ploce (which are north of Dubrovnik). A ladja is a traditional type of boat that has been used for centuries on the narrow Neretva River; many of the boats used in the race are old boats that have been refurbished. Crews usually come from local towns and villages and can number up to 18 people in total, including a cox and a drummer.
Events in September 2026
The Salt Festival in Ston takes place from 26th August to 15th September 2026. (Salt production being something Ston is famous for). Restaurants in Ston and the surrounding area will offer specially priced menus for the duration of the festival, showcasing their dishes and special wines from the region. There will also be plenty of entertainment (such as live music), and you can also learn more about the salt harvest.
The Epidaurus Festival is in its 20th year this year, taking place in Cavtat in September. The arts festival – named after the old name for Cavtat – largely focuses on music but also includes art, drama, theatre and other cultural events.
The Ston Wall Marathon (you’ve read that correctly) takes place in September and must surely be one of the most unique running races in the world.
Events in October 2026
The Unseen Festival is a film festival held every year in early October in Cavtat. Both Croatian and international films are displayed in public locations, with accompanying workshops also held.
Events in December 2026
Scents of Christmas will be in its 19th year this year. Held the week of Christmas Day (so a few days before and after the big day) in the small towns (Cilipi, Drvenik) of the Konavle region, there are food and wine presentations and tastings, music, markets and more.
