Events in Southern Dalmatia in March 2017
A region famed for its oysters must have an event dedicated to them – right? Luckily, it does! The Festival of Oysters takes place on St Joseph’s Day (19th March) and the days after in Ston and Mali Ston, when a multitude of oyster dishes can be sampled, along with some local wines. Traditional singing and dancing also takes place.
Events in Southern Dalmatia in June 2017
As with many other Croatian coastal towns and cities, Cavtat also has a run of summer events from June to September, featuring concerts, dance performances, street performances and more. All events are free; check locally for full details.
Events in Southern Dalmatia in September 2017
The eighth Film Food Festival Kinookus should take place in early September; each year, the festival takes on a specific theme. There’s film and documentary screenings, talks and workshops – plus gastronomic presentations as well, of course!
The Ston Wall Marathon (you’ve read that correctly!) takes place on 24th September 2017, and must surely be one of the most unique running races in the world!
The Epidaurus Festival is in its 11th year in 2017, taking place in Cavtat in mid-September. The arts festival – named after the old name for Cavtat – largely focuses on music but also includes art, drama, theatre and other cultural events.
