The Best Adults-Only Hotels in Croatia
I’ve covered family hotels and family holidays in Croatia multiple times over here in Visit Croatia world (hey, I’m at that stage of life!). Now I thought it was time to cover something a little different. If you’re looking to holiday in the country and want a top hotel that’s guaranteed not to have any little darlings running around, dive bombing into a serene pool and sticking their little fingers in the cream desserts, this page is for you! Let me guide you to the best adults-only hotels in Croatia.
San Servolo, Istria
The San Servolo estate is a wellness resort in the beautiful Istrian countryside near the town of Buje. As well as enjoying comfortable accommodation, you would come here to make the most of the fabulous wellness offer – the heated indoor and outdoor pools (the latter offering a hydromassage), a whirlpool bath, four saunas, and a sauna ritual that is available in autumn and winter.
The location is slightly more remote than some hotels, but that’s part of the magic. In any case, almost everything you could possibly need is here. Dining options include the atmospheric steakhouse or the pizzeria for a more relaxed meal. San Servolo is also well placed to enjoy much of the charms and experiences that Istria is well known for – from wine or olive oil tasting to truffle hunting. And the roads and trails of the Istrian countryside are wonderful for cycling.
Now for something truly unique that you definitely won’t get anywhere else…the beer spa. The what now? Yes, you really will be allowed to submerge yourself in a bath full of beer, the benefits of which include a massaging effect from the foam and bubbles on your skin – and lifting your mood too, of course. Even better is that you can also indulge in snacks and beer to drink at the same time. San Servolo also run a craft brewery, so the beer that you bathe and drink can also be bought to take home.
The Isolano, Island of Cres
A relatively new addition to the luxury hotel scene in Croatia, The Isolano would be one of my top choices for an adults-only holiday in the country. Why? Part of the reason is its island location, Cres. We all know about Croatia’s very popular islands, particularly those in Dalmatia (Brac, Hvar, Korcula, for example), but also some near this one, such as Losinj, Krk or Rab. Cres is different. A wilder, highly forested and low-population island; you come here to really get away from it all. The Isolano can offer you that with a slice of high-end relaxation.
Exquisitely designed, many of the highly comfortable and spacious rooms offer gorgeous views overlooking the sea. You will undoubtedly make use of the infinity pool, whether you’re actually swimming or merely chilling alongside it. The private beach is just 10 feet away should you wish to dip into the Adriatic. More relaxation can be had in the spa and wellness centre, which includes a sauna and hot tub, but there’s also an on-site gym for fitness fiends. Guests rave about the staff at The Isolano, who really offer a personalised service.

Falkensteiner Hotel Adriana, Zadar
Located in close proximity to some of the other Falkensteiner properties (including some which are very much family-friendly), the Hotel Adriana is in a lovely location on the outskirts of Zadar. The hotel is set in lovely, lush grounds, with many of the amenities surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers – such as the pool, for example. This hotel would be an excellent choice for guests for whom nature is important but who also want to be within easy reach of a larger town that has some fantastic sights.
Elegant rooms complement the nature outside, decorated in calming shades of blue. Many of the rooms offer gorgeous views out to sea – and you know you’ll want to choose one, given Zadar’s famous sunsets. (Yes, they are that spectacular.) You’ll also be able to enjoy sunsets as you dine in the fabulous outdoor space – and guests rave about the excellent quality of the food.
It’s just a short walk to sandy Borik Beach that’s set in a small bay with calm and shallow waters. Or simply go strolling on the seaside promenade to take in the views.
Guests who crave a spa can access the large spa centre in the neighbouring Hotel Borik, which offers an indoor pool, plunge pools, a hot tub and a wide range of treatments.
Heritage Hotel Cardo, Split
Unlike most of the establishments featured in this guide to adults-only hotels in Croatia, the Heritage Hotel Cardo in Split enjoys a prime city centre location that means a lack of certain amenities (no pool, of course). Not to worry, for being right in the heart of the action you can enjoy everything Split has to offer. Located in the Diocletian’s Palace area, you are right next to the city’s famous sights such as the Peristyle and the Cathedral with its iconic bell tower.
The hotel offers luxury rooms with a traditional feel, with many elements (such as the stonework) complementing the surroundings of a Roman emperor’s palace. Make sure you make full use of the courtyard to start each day with a hearty breakfast.
TUI Blue Adriatic Beach, Igrane
Part of the TUI Blue collection of TUI’s hotels – which focuses on unique stays and experiences – the Adriatic Beach would be another fine option for those looking for an adults-only beach stay. This hotel also provides guests with an all-inclusive offering – and I know for many of you, that’s an absolute must when you’re on holiday.
The gorgeous curved pool is has a glorious view of the sea, so you really can splash about in a divine setting. To go one step further, you can opt for a swim-up room (which provides direct access to a separate pool that’s shared with two other rooms) or a room with a private hot tub.
As you can guess by the name, the beach is just steps away, where you can rest and recover in peace without any young kids being their loud, delightful selves. Again, this hotel is also home to a spa that offers wellness packages, or you can get your heart rate going at the fitness centre or on one of the outdoor sports courts.

Hotel Brattia, island of Brac
The island of Brac is well known for being a family-friendly place, but those without kids shouldn’t have to miss out! Located in Postira on the north of the island – a short hop from the main port that is Supetar – the Hotel Brattia is the perfect mix of modern and traditional. Many of the rooms feature traditional stone elements, really making you feel that you’re holidaying on an Adriatic island, but set in amongst smart furnishings. The rooms feature small kitchenettes, which is excellent for anyone considering a longer stay.
The infinity pool is an excellent place to gather around – you may like to refer to it as a “lounging area”, and that you will do with a refreshing cocktail or two.
Should you make it out of the hotel grounds, the nearest beach is a short walk away, although you are also in easy reach of sandy Lovrecina Beach. Postira itself is a gorgeous little village, a great choice for exploring but not the kind of place that’s overrun with visitors. The perfect accompaniment to the Hotel Brattia.
Hotel Moeesy, island of Hvar
Hvar is understandably a popular destination in Croatia, and offers many super-chic hotel options to its many visitors. For those looking for adults-only hotels in Croatia, the Hotel Moeesy is the one to go for.
You’ll be wowed by the infinity pool that overlooks the Adriatic, which is next to the perfectly manicured garden. There’s no doubt that you’ll spend a considerable amount of your time out here, but when you do make the move inside, you’ll fall in love with the spacious, modern and well-appointed rooms, which are all clean lines and calm colours.
There’s plenty of additional outdoor seating areas for you to enjoy with a coffee, cocktail, your meal, or just to watch stunning sunsets daily. The nearest beach is mere steps away, whilst the delights of Hvar Town are only a short walk from the hotel.
Hotel San Giorgio, Vis
Head way out on the Adriatic to my favourite island, Vis, for a bit of quiet luxury at the Hotel San Grigorio – the first boutique hotel on the island.
Some of the rooms are located in a 200-year-old Mediterranean stone house, but all are furnished with items that complement the peaceful nature of Vis and being just a stone’s throw from the sea.
The hotel offers small extra touches that will delight all guests – from pickup at the ferry port to a welcome drink, or the ability to book yourself onto a tour of Vis.
Another big plus is the hotel’s restaurant, Boccadoro, which is one of the best places to dine on Vis. The restaurant prides itself on its fresh ingredients (many grown in its organic garden) and inventive cooking, serving up tasty Dalmatian dishes that – understandably – are heavy on the fish and seafood.
Palace Natali, Dubrovnik
For something really rather special for an adults-only getaway in Croatia, you must consider Palace Natali in Dubrovnik. The hotel is housed in the former summer residence for the prominent local Natali family, originally built in the 16th century. It has been renovated to an exacting standard and offers guests a very high standard of five-star luxury alongside wonderful history. There’s something about the stonework – original, of course – that will make your luxury stay a true Dubrovnik experience.
Some of the prestige rooms feature a private sauna, but all rooms here will offer the most for a restorative stay. Many offer stunning views of the red rooftops of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. As will the whole premises – the tranquil, beautifully designed gardens are the perfect place to stroll or contemplate in the quiet seating areas, while you will also delight in the lush outdoor pool.
The on-site restaurant serves an expansive offering for breakfast, and Mediterranean fare for lunch and dinner. There’s also a gym (which may be one of the most beautiful gyms you will ever see), a hydro massage tub and the opportunity to book yourself in for a divine outdoor massage. There are also quirky touches such as the “Cabinet of Curiosities” in a small, atmospheric room which you can explore, or the Games Room to add a competitive element to your stay.
Hotel More, Dubrovnik
Another very fine adults-only choice in Dubrovnik is the Hotel More. Like many of the hotels in this city, it has an excellent seaside location – but with a secret trick up its sleeve (so to speak), more of which later.
Situated in the Babin Kuk area of Dubrovnik, you’ll be able to take full advantage of being so close to the Adriatic. Emerge from your room with a view to head down to the private bathing area to enjoy hours of sunbathing interspersed with quick dips into the sea, before retiring poolside for lounging, Croatian-coast style. Dine at the hotel restaurant (which serves excellent Dalmatian dishes) with the stunning scenery as your backdrop. And when you emerge from the hotel itself, you can stroll along the gorgeous seaside promenade, perhaps heading to a local eatery or bar. The name of the hotel – more – means sea in Croatian…you can see how important it is!
But the aforementioned secret doesn’t make the most of the view – not at all, in fact. How come? Because it’s a cave bar! Yes, the Cave Bar More is split across three levels in a cave beneath the hotel, where the temperature is a consistent 24C. The place to enjoy refreshment during the summer, in more ways than one.
