Last year's INmusic Festival was a very popular affair, with a selection of amazing acts appearing on the bill - including the truly phenomenal Arcade Fire as one of the headliners, plus Jamiroquai, TV On The Radio, The Streets and Cypress Hill.
Dates of this year's event have only recently been announced - the festival will take place on the 29th & 30th June (roughly a week later than normal) and, unlike previous years, it will take place on the weekend (Friday and Saturday) giving you a great opportunity to indulge in long weekend in Zagreb whilst also taking in a popular European festival!
Few details of the 2012 event have been announced so far, but one act - Swedish alternative rock band Mando Diao - have already been added to the bill.
Here's some great reviews of the INmusic Festival in previous years:
T-Mobile INmusic festival: LCD Soundsystem, The Flaming Lips and Billy Idol rock Croatia (Metro, 28th June 2010)
A Massive Attack of music in Croatia (BBC 6 Music, 24th June 2010)
The Festival
Located in the pretty setting of Lake Jarun on the outskirts of the Zagreb, the INmusic Festival is smaller than some other events held in similar-sized cities, but it still attracts a number of big name pop and rock acts. Even before last year's event, top names such as Massive Attack, Pendulum (live), Billy Idol, Lily Allen, NERD, Franz Ferdinand and Moby have all appeared.
What's great about this festival is the ease in which it can be reached, both in terms of Zagreb and the festival site itself. Croatia's capital city is just a two-hour flight away from the UK, and there's a few airlines that operate direct flights between the two countries. There are also great air, bus and train connections to Zagreb from elsewhere in Europe (more details below).

Zagreb
Lake Jarun, the setting of the INmusic Festival, is also very easy to reach from elsewhere in Zagreb by public transport (see below) - so you can stay right in the city (and take advantage of its delights) and easily make your way to the festival site each day.
All in all, as we've said above, this event would be a great way of combining a city break with a European festival experience!
Note that the run of festivals on the coast down in Tisno (between Zadar and Split) that start with the Garden Festival, kick off only a few days after the end of the INmusic Festival. Are you thinking what I'm thinking...?!
Tickets for the INmusic Festival
Tickets have yet to go on sale, but are expected to do so in early February 2012. Watch out for news on the festival website's tickets page.
Accommodation for the Festival
As in previous years, the Festival will have its own campsite for festivalgoers which will be open a few days either side of the festival. This will be perfect for those looking to keep costs low - not to mention great for those people who think a festival isn't a festival without camping!
Alternatively, of course, you may like to stay in the city itself. Zagreb really does have a great selection of accommodation options for all budgets - from hostels to five star hotels - so there's no doubt that you will be available to find something suitable. Check out our guide to Accommodation in Zagreb for a little bit more info.

Getting to Zagreb
Croatia Airlines
operate daily flights from London Heathrow to Zagreb, whilst Easyjet have five flights a week from London Gatwick.
As mentioned, Zagreb also has great connections to elsewhere in Europe. See our Getting to Zagreb guide for full details.
Getting to the INmusic Festival
The festival is easy to reach by public transport from the centre of
Zagreb. Tram numbers 5 or 17 both go to Jarun (the stop itself is called Jarun!). 17 is probably the most useful as you can catch it from the main square, Trg bana Jelacica.
From Jarun tram stop, you can walk to the festival site - follow the signposts.
