Zadar Airport

When you fly into Zadar Airport, you’ll notice (as your plane parks up directly by the terminal building!) that it’s quite a small yet mostly modern airport – although parts do resemble a warehouse. It does, however, have everything you might need from an airport, albeit on a small scale.

Because of its size, getting through immigration is a relatively speedy affair, and you’ll also not wait long for the luggage either.

Travelling to and from Zadar Airport

Zadar Airport is located close to Zadar itself (only around 11km from the Old Town), so it is easy to travel between the two. The best way to do so is by bus – buses wait outside the terminal building on the right-hand side, and you simply pay the driver when you board. The bus makes two stops, one at the main bus station in Zadar (so you can immediately board a bus to another destination) and the second just outside the Old Town in Zadar, where all the sights and many restaurants, bars and places of accommodation are located.

Tickets cost €5 (the same price to either stop) and it only takes about 15 minutes to the bus station and then a further five minutes to Zadar Old Town.

There is a timetable available on the Zadar Airport website – this is probably more useful to look at if you’re looking to get to the Airport from Zadar.

Taxis are also available from outside the terminal building – however, we would really recommend getting the bus instead as it’s so cheap and such a short journey!

You can also fire up your smartphone and book an Uber or Bolt vehicle. (In fact, make sure you have both apps on your phone and compare prices before booking the cheapest!) It should be about €17-25 for a ride to the Old Town from the airport, for example.

ATMs & Changing Money

Just beyond the baggage claim area, when you arrive, there are a number of ATMs to withdraw cash from. A bureau de change is also located here.

Cafes, Restaurants and Shopping

There are only a handful of cafes at Zadar Airport for a sit-down bite and drink, but there is even one without outdoor seating! (Out of the front of the airport.) Unfortunately for passengers departing, the nicest/largest cafe is before security, whilst eating options after security tend to be very basic “sandwich and drink” snack bars.

The main duty-free shop in the airport sells ‘wares’ from Croatia, including the all-important bottles of spirits and wine, plus chocolates, make up and items you normally find in such shops.

Car Hire at Zadar Airport

A number of car hire firms exist at Zadar Airport, located in a small structure just outside the main terminal building (on your right as you exit). Firms located there include Enterprise and Avis.

Parking

There is ample parking at Zadar Airport. It costs €3.50 for the first hour, and less for subsequent hours.
