Getting to Losinj is relatively straightforward, and – as you’ll see below – there are a number of ferry and bus options available to you.
Losinj does actually have its own airport, although there are presently no scheduled flights to the airport from abroad or even from within Croatia.
If you’re intending to fly to Croatia to reach Losinj, the nearest large airport is Rijeka Airport on the island of Krk. If you do fly here, you can then get a bus from Omisalj (the town nearest to Rijeka Airport) directly to the island of Losinj with Arriva.

Getting to Losinj by bus
From Rijeka
Getting to Losinj by bus is certainly possible, not least helped by the fact that the island is connected to Cres by bridge. (The channel between the two islands is only 11 metres wide!)
Arriva run daily buses from Rijeka, which stop at Opatija on the mainland before utilising the Brestova (mainland) – Porozina (Cres) ferry link. These buses then travel down the island of Cres (stopping at Cres Town) and on to Losinj, stopping at Nerezine, Mali Losinj and Veli Losinj along the way. Journey time from Rijeka to Mali Losinj is 3 hours 45 minutes; to Veli Losinj it’s 4 hours.
From Zagreb
There are daily buses from Zagreb to Mali Losinj & Veli Losinj, with a journey time of about 6 hours. See the Arriva website for timetables.
Getting to Losinj from elsewhere in Croatia
If you’re travelling from elsewhere in Croatia and trying to reach Losinj, it would undoubtedly be best to first travel to Rijeka and then make your way from there either by bus or ferry.
