Flying to Ancona is
perhaps one of the best options for reaching Croatia. There are
daily ferry/catamaran services to Split run by three operators
during summer, and there are even regular services in off-season.
Aditionally, there is also a year-round ferry service to Zadar. During the summer months, there are also ferry routes to some
of the Croatian islands such as Hvar and Vis.
Even if there are no direct ferry routes to your
final destination, there are many local ferry routes from Split so it is advisable to take a ferry to here and to then take a connecting one.
If you're planning on reaching somewhere else on the Croatian mainland,
there are very good bus connections from Split as well.
