Although a number of
options are available if flying direct to Zagreb (with Croatia
Airlines or Wizz
Air - see our Getting There
by Air section for more details), it is possible that you
may find yourself flying to Ljubljana in Slovenia and travelling
across to Croatia. This is most suitable if your final destination
is either Zagreb or somewhere in Central Croatia.
Wizz Air
flys from London Luton to Ljubljana; Easyjet
flys from London Stanstead to Ljubljana.
Travelling from Ljubljana
Upon landing at Ljubljana
Airport, it is likely that you will depart the airport by
bus. You will either travel to Ljubljana downtown (30 - 45 minute
journey) or to Kranj (15 minute journey). It is, in fact, advisable
to travel to Kranj - it is only 15 minutes from the airport, you
can catch trains to Croatia from here.
For timetables for buses from the airport to Kranj
or Ljubljana, see the Getting Here section of the airport
website.
Travelling to Croatia by
Train
There are several direct trains per day from Kranj to Zagreb,
and journey time is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes.
There are also several direct trains per day from
Ljubljana to Zagreb, journey time approximately 2 hours 20 minutes.
See timetables from Kranj or
Ljubljana to destinations in Croatia at the Die
Bahn website.
Travelling to Croatia by
Bus
You will first have to travel to Ljubljana downtown to
catch a bus from Ljubljana
Bus Station. There is one bus per day from here to Zagreb,
and although the journey time is only 2 hours 45 minutes, the
route operates at night. Not too convenient, so we recommend travelling
by train instead!
