The national airline in Croatia is the appropriately titled Croatia Airlines. Founded in 1989, just before the break-up of Yugoslavia, the airline has officially had this name since 1990.
Since 2004, the airline has been part of the Star Alliance network of airlines – the world’s largest, in fact. Other airlines that are part of this network include United Airlines, Lufthansa, Air Canada, SAS, Air China, Air New Zealand and ANA. If you’re flying to Croatia with a connection, you may find it helpful to book flights to Europe utilising one of these airlines, then travelling on to Croatia with Croatia Airlines.
The airline, with its fleet of 14 aircraft (as of 2020) covers a good network within Europe, connecting a number of major European cities with Croatian ones. It utilises the Airbus 319, Airbus 320 and Dash Q800-400 aircraft for their flights.
Croatia Airlines’ main hub is Zagreb Airport, of course – especially for its international flights.
Croatia Airlines Domestic Flights
The airline of course operates a number of internal flights within Croatia; there are connections between the cities of Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Pula and Osijek. Some of the above routes are operated by a second airline in Croatia, Trade Air. However, their flights can also be booked via the Croatia Airlines website.

- Paris to Dubrovnik and Zagreb
- Rome to Dubrovnik and Split
- Sarajevo to Zagreb
- St Petersburg to Zagreb
- Stockholm to Zagreb
- Venice to Dubrovnik
- Vienna to Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb
- Warsaw to Zagreb
- Zurich to Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb
Routes from cities slightly outside Europe include:
- Istanbul to Dubrovnik and Zagreb
- Tel Aviv to Zagreb
