April
Paklenica National Park holds an International Climbers Meeting from end of April/beginning of May each year. Teams of two people compete in a "big wall" speed climbing event in the Velika Paklenica canyon! More details can be found at the Paklenica National Park website.

May
The 8th International Choir Competition takes place in Zadar from 17th to 20th May 2012.

June
The Trogir Summer Festival commences in mid June but stretches out over July and August too. A number of traditional and modern concerts are held, together with theatre and dance performances, and exhibitions from both Croatian and international performers at various venues throughout Trogir.

The Zadar Summer Theatre Festival runs from the end of June to the beginning of August each year; a variety of comedy, drama and monologue performances will be on show during this time. Some musical performances are also part of the festival.

The cathedral in Nin - the smallest cathedral in the world - hosts a festival of sun and light on 21st June each year, which is of course the longest day of the year!

The Velebit Trekking event takes place at the end of June in in Paklenica National Park, with three courses of varying difficulty.

July
The Off Festival, a jazz and blues event, is held in Sibenik in mid-July.

The Musical Evenings of St Donat, held over the month of July in Zadar, are a series of classical concerts by Croatian and international performers and musicians at St Donatus Church and various other locations in the town.

The wonderful Full Moon Festival takes place on the Riva in Zadar at the end of July each year. Locals turn off their lights, and head to the candlelight waterfront to enjoy music and food. A must if you're in the region at this time of the year!

The 6th Millennium Jump takes place in Zadar at the end of July 2012. Locals (and any other willing participants!) gather on the waterfront to all jump into the sea at the same time! Around 1,500 people take part each year; here's a video from In Your Pocket explaining a bit more about the event. Fun to join in if you're there!

August
Following on from the very succesful inaugural event in 2011, Terraneo is due to return this year. Billed as an eco-music festival, it will be held in Sibenik in mid-August. Last year saw a busy line-up of musical acts (including La Roux, The National, The Fall, Crystal Castles, Mogwai and more), plus eco lectures and workshops.

The Evenings of Dalmatian Chanson are two days in mid-August in Sibenik. (A chanson is a special type of lyrical song - I had to look that up!) The event showcases typical Dalmatian singing.

Zadar Snova, the International Festival of Contemporary Theatre, is held in Zadar for a week each August.

The Film Forum Zadar will take place at the end of August in the town - the third year of the event.

September
The 8th Medieval Fair in Sibenik will be held in late September, with music, dancing, "sports" (knights' battle and crossbowmen), food and stands with items for sale. Here are some details on last year's event.

October
The Biograd Boat Show takes place each year towards the end of October, and is the largest event of its kind in the Croatia.
