Again many thanks all very relative information, great to get any tips!

  • Andrew Timothy McKeon BA LLM

Thank you so much for the very valuable information. One other question please, ‘Is it more difficult to travel by bus in Montenegro such as from Budva to Ulcini and then from Ulcini to Duress or perhaps best to travel directly to Tirana and then Duress and in Montengro would one need the local currency or do they accept euro?. Again many thanks for your help and if you come to Ireland we will help you! Irish Greetings! Andrew

    • You’re welcome! Sorry – I can’t really advise on bus travel in Montenegro and down to Albania; I’d definitely advise asking on a Montenegro website/forum, perhaps on TripAdvisor. The currency in Montenegro *is* the Euro. (They’re not officially part of the Eurozone, but they use the Euro because the country has never established its own currency since independence.) Thanks for the offer of Ireland tips! 🙂

I hope to travel from Zadar right down to Tirana in mid September breaking up the journey in Split, Medegore, Dubrovnik, Budva, Ulicni and on to Tirana staying one or two nights on the way! Can I buy a bus ticket that covers the whole journey or do I have to buy a ticket from each stop over and if that is the case can I purchase the tickets before I go or not? Thanks Andrew (Ireland)

    • There’s no bus ticket/’pass’ that covers just Croatia, let alone the whole region! Even if there was, I’d doubt you’d want to use it – there are so many bus companies operating routes (in Croatia, I mean), that one pass would limit your options in terms of what buses you could take with it.

It’s possible to buy tickets for some journeys in advance online (again, I’m taking about Croatia – this page on our site might help you: http://www.visit-croatia.co.uk/index.php/travelling-around-croatia/bus-travel-in-croatia/ ), but I’d stick to just buying tickets once you’re there for the greatest flexibility. Certainly, Zadar to Split has *loads* of buses on that route and you won’t have any issues turning up there and then and buying a ticket. Or, if the bus unusually happens to be full, there will be another bus in about half an hour’s time.

Ongoing, I might suggest once you arrive in a place to then enquire about your onward journey and ticket options – e.g. once you arrive in Split and seeing as you’re at the bus station anyway, ask about buses to Medjugorje.

Overall, this will give you the most flexibility – as you say, you might stay one or two nights in each place, and I assume you’ll decide that once you’re there.

hi what is the distance from Venice airport to Croatia we are visiting Croatia in the next few days

  • Hello there, I’m afraid I wouldn’t know how to go about finding a mobility scooter for hire either. However, I’ve placed your question up on our travel forum at http://visitcroatia.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=9118. I hope someone will be able to help!

  • Sandra Noble

Having had several holidays in Croatia we would like to re-visit.   This time we need a mobility scooter.   Our Travel Agent has not been able to find anywhere in the Istrian Peninsula where we can hire one.   Can you help please ?
