Arrived by ferry from Split, landed 50 meters from hotel,
shown to a room over the front door with a great view over the
harbour. The staff of the hotel couldn't do enough for you, rooms
spotless, food excellent, wine and beer prices fair and comparable
to the rest of the town. Our only complaint is that being light
sleepers we didn't get much as LIFE there is pretty non stop.
Two places that we must tell you about are the Coral
Shop just off the front owned by a very pleasant and informative
young man. The restaurant "Kod Matkovica" just around
the corner has the best food in Hvar town in our opinion.

I have wanted to visit Croatia for more than a decade. Prices
are more in my price range now as your country regains its popularity.
I am very glad that I got to see this most beautiful, peaceful
and friendly country before too many people flock back. It has
been many years since I have had such a relaxing holiday. The
cost of eating, drinking etc was on a par with my home town -
I have found many destinations throughout the world to have grossly
inflated prices but not so here. My friends and I hired a car
and took a couple of days to visit Serbia-Montenegro and Bosnia.
The drive each way was stunning and the border crossings painless
each way. I would like to congratulate the people of Dubrovnik
and Zagreb (only one day so to a lesser degree) on their clean
cities and friendly people. Hvala lijepo Hrvatska!

After our fantastic holiday in Croatia during the summer of
2002 we returned in 2003. With four children aged 4, 8,
12 and 14 we flew to Trieste and hired a car. We drove
to Zagreb where we spent a few days chilling out visiting sites
and hanging out in the numerous street cafe bars in the evenings.
We then drove down to Podgora and spent another week on the beautiful
Dalmatian Coast. This year whilst in Podgora we took a boat
trip to Korcula - one of the many day trips available. All
four children enjoyed themselves and so did we. Podgora
really is ideal for families - pedallos and banana boats on the
front and secluded coves just outside the resort for quieter times.
The bars on the front close around midnight for peace but there
are clubs on the edge of town for later nights out. We then
drove up to Plitvice and stayed for two nights in a hotel in the
National Park. Plitvice is absolutely stunning and a real
wonder of the world. The turquoise green lakes are teaming
with wildlife and the park is extremely well managed. There
are walkways and paths that allow you to explore the park and
view the many waterfalls, caves and sites. A must see.
Once again a really enjoyable two weeks in Croatia with excellent
food, friendly people and possibly the most beautiful country
in the world.
Would you go again? We are already planning
our next trip.

Hello Angelo & Anna,
We had a brilliant holiday in your country. The scenery is breath
taking and the people lovely and friendly. The food is very good.
Mlini is so tranquil, we relaxed straight away.
Cavtat is beautiful and Dubrovnik is something special. Dubrovnik
left its mark on us.
We met a lovely lady who cleaned the rooms on our floor, she had
good English and we had good fun trying to learn your language
with her every morning. She was always in good form.
Jadranka (I know I have not spelt that right) Customer relations
in the hotel was so helpful and friendly, without her we would
not have seen and done so much. She is a very bubbly person. We
are looking forward to meeting her next year.
Nanda and Leo who played in the hotel at night where excellent.
Nanda is a beautiful singer and Leo a brilliant musician. We are
also looking forward meeting them again next year.
We have made friends and will keep in touch by email, letters
and telephone until next year.
The only reason for giving 4 to the hotel, there was no room service.
Our flight was delayed and we arrived late, there was no facility
for making tea or coffee. Also we could not get anything to eat.
But having said this, Hotel Astarea was spotless clean and the
shower was fantastic. The room very comfortable and the view excellent.
The staff at reception were also friendly and helpful.
Looking forward to next year's visit. We will be coming for three
weeks as two weeks is too short.
With kind regards,
Marie & Michael Malone
Would you go again? Most certainly with my
sister in law and husband

Our holiday in Porec was a wonderful experience from start
to finish (apart from my pregnant wife's seasickness on the hydrofoil
to Venice!) Hotel Neptune was very good in all respects. Porec
truly has something for everyone: shopping, architecture, history,
watersports, restaurants and a wide choice of excursions by boat
or bus. Our abiding memories include: View of the harbour from
our window; Seafood evening at Hotel Neptune (heaven!); stunning
mosaics in the basilica; waiters in the cafes in Decamanus juggling
ice-cream; best pizza in the world at "Nono"; exquisite
little art shops in the old town; swimming in the Adriatic at
a deserted spot behind the basilica - I could go on and on.

I recently returned from a two week trip to Croatia and I
am lost for words! The coastline from Dubrovnik all the way up
to Split is absolutely spectacular and the hospitality of the
people is second to none. I found the people to be so genuine
and giving of themselves - something I did not expect from a nation
so recently ravaged by war. I would definitely recommend going
to Croatia - it's one of the most amazing places I've ever been
to!

A total rip off at the Amfora. Food dreadful and hardly any
choice. Large pool that was dirty and had only 5 sun beds and
no sun shades. Room grubby and in desperate need of renovation.
Surly management and would never go back.

Red Island is a fantastic little island about 15 minutes by
ferry boat from Rovinj. The island is car free, apart from a few
deliveries early in the mornings and covered in trees. The hotel
is a good 3 star with all the facilities we needed. At the time
our son was just 11 months and the hotel had children's clubs
(0-4, 4-7, 7-11 years), so he was happy and we had some free time
for ourselves.
This is our third holiday on the island, the first in 1995. Since
then the hotel has had air-con fitted in all the rooms, and were
we grateful!!
The food is good, self-service, plenty of it and good quality.
The island is rocky with good areas for both safe bathing for
young ones and older ones too. Great for snorkelling.
The adjoining island, Maskin, is a naturist island and worth a
visit. We are not naturists but still enjoyed the walks and the
restaurant on Maskin. (Note in July 2002 Maskin was devastated
by a storm and many trees were lost - I've seen some photos but
I've been told the island has been re-planted.).
The evening entertainment has improved since Sol Melia bought
the hotel. Now the entertainment is very professional and good
fun for all the family.
As with all the holidays we've taken in Croatia the people are
very friendly.
We have also been Uglian (near Zadar), Cavtat, Zagreb, Samabor,
Opatija, so if you want help just e-mail me. My wife is from Zagreb,
so we should be able to help with any other advice too.
Would you go again? Every year!!
