The Festival
Described as "Europe's largest bass culture and dubstep festival", the Outlook Festival will be returning for a fifth year in 2012, settling very nicely into its new-ish home in Punta Christo, Pula for the third year running. [For the first two years the festival was in Petrcane (2008), and at the Superclub in Novalja, on the island of Pag (2009).]
Punta Christo is a wonderful fort from the 19th century located on a peninsula close to Pula and, as the official website says, "in the UK this place would be a national heritage site and there wouldn't be chance of holding a festival of any kind within its walls. But we're not in the UK and so we have the chance to create a festival venue unlike one you have ever seen." Very true!
As such, the Fort is a truly spectacular venue for the Festival. Stages are to be erected in the main courtyard (where the majority of acts will perform) for a capacity of 2,000 and in "Mungo's Courtyard" with a capacity of 800. There's also "The Dungeon" for 300 people, and "Noah's Ballroom", a circular pit that will feature a soundsystem.
During the day, festivalgoers can have fun at parties on the beach which is by the festival campsite, as well as booking themselves onto the infamous boat parties which feature DJs, MCs and a bar. (Boat parties must be booked separately as they're not included in the festival ticket price.)
The 2012 line-up has yet to be revealed, so do watch this space for further info! Tickets are, however, already on sale - see below.
The Outlook Festival is the last one on the calendar of Croatia's festivals for the year, and a great way of ending the party season in the country. If you have any concerns about visiting the country at this time of year, don't! The weather will still be absolutely fabulous, the sea will till be more than warm enough for swimming and, seeing as the summer crowds will be long gone, things like accommodation should be a little cheaper!
Tickets for the Outlook Festival
Early-bird tickets for the four-day event have ALREADY sold out. (Just goes to show the popularity of the festival!) Full-price tickets will go on sale in January 2012 from Leedstickets.
Accommodation for the Festival
Due to the festival's proximity to Pula, it's a great place for staying in if attending the festival. There's certainly plenty of choice (hotels, apartments, private accommodation) for all budgets! Take a look at what's available in the town using the below search box:
Do also check out accommodation advice from the Outlook Festival website. Previous years have involved a campsite so you can check if this is also being organised for 2012 (if camping's your kind of thing!) whilst there may also be special accommodation deals being promoted.
Getting to Pula
Pula Airport is the nearest to the Festival site. There's a number of airlines that fly from the UK to Pula, including Ryanair (from London Stansted) and Thomsonfly
(from London Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester). Jet2.com have announced a new route to Pula for 2012, also flying from Manchester. Croatia Airlines should also have direct flights from the London to Pula during summer - if you can't find a suitable direct flight, you could also fly with them via Zagreb.
There are bus transfer from the airport to the main bus station in Pula, from where you can make your way to the Festival site.
You may also consider flying to somewhere in nearby Italy (say, Trieste or Venice, which benefit from daily flights from the UK) and transferring across to Istria. There's also quite a few options for flying from elsewhere in Europe. Details of all of these possibilities are on our Getting to Istria page.
