A relatively new concept to the Croatian festival season, the island of Obonjan will be greeting visitors again for 2019!

And it’s a concept that makes sense for Croatia. Aside from festivals, what else does Croatia have in spades? Islands! So how about a festival season on a specially set up island? That’s where Obonjan comes in.

Obonjan is a small island located just 6km off the mainland near Sibenik. Open for the summer season from 30th June to 2nd September 2019, the island will provide a full timetable everyday. Live music, DJs, talks and workshops, group yoga and meditation, and wellness and fitness elements will all be available for you to enjoy on this idyllic isle.

Obonjan also places importance on sustainable and responsible tourism by managing scarce resources and reducing wasteful and polluting consumption. The island’s accommodation is eco-friendly; there’s an organic waste treatment plant that will regenerate and improve the quality of the island’s soil; and organisers will be composting all organic matter from food and other waste. The organisers also aim to bring benefits to the local economy and stimulate employment and, over time, plan to develop collaborative new businesses.

Free group wellbeing sessions are open to everyone and suitable for all, whatever your previous yoga experiences. Whether you’re after more classic options – vinyasa, hatha and ashtanga or dance yoga, tarot readings, kundalini, qoya, roaming massage, reiki, there’s plenty of choice.

For something a little more personal, you can also book one to one healing sessions and massage treatments for an additional price. And you can also get your creative juices flowing with workshops such as marbling sessions, crystal dreamcatcher workshops or handwoven macramé art sessions (to mention just a few) on offer.

There’s also several catering options, with a few small eateries to fill up at and a small shop to obtain snacks and drinks. And bar Drift is the perfect place to relax with a cold pivo.

Whilst you’re in this part of the world, do also enjoy excursions to some of Croatia’s most beautiful sights. A couple of Croatia’s national parks – Kornati and Krka – are located in this part of Dalmatia and can be easily reached. Or you could choose to visit the sights of the historic Sibenik on the mainland. You can arrange excursions via the event organisers.
