From the UK & Ireland
Dubrovnik is the most southern city in Croatia, and the most practical way to reach it is to do so by air, especially as there are now a considerable number of airlines with flights to there during the summer months.

British Airways operate flights year-round to Dubrovnik, with daily flights operating from March to late summer. Easyjet have several flights a week from London Stansted (a new route for 2010), London Gatwick and Liverpool to Dubrovnik.

Croatia Airlines also operate direct flights during summer.

There is also one flight a week from both London Gatwick and Manchester with Thomsonfly whilst FlyBe also operate once-a-week flights from Birmingham, Southampton and Exeter, and Jet2.com fly weekly from Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast.

bmibaby have started a new route for 2010 - East Midlands to Dubrovnik, operating once a week.

Aer Lingus have three flights a week from Dublin.

Palmair are a charter airline that operate flights during summer from Bournemouth to Dubrovnik.

The majority of the above flights operate during summer only, but please see our Getting There - By Air section for full flight details.

Flying via Zagreb
Croatia Airlines have several flights a week from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. If you can't find a suitable flight direct to Dubrovnik, see if you can fly/travel to Zagreb and then get a Croatia Airlines flight from there.

If you're travelling during winter, the above route via Zagreb is also suitable to give you a few more options.

Bus & Ferry from Europe
There is an international bus service from Trieste in Italy, which takes about 12 hours, and is run by SAF.

There are also international ferry services from Bari. See our Travelling from Italy section for more details.

From elsewhere in Croatia
Dubrovnik can also be reached by bus from Zagreb (which takes about 12 hours), Rijeka or Split.

The most pleasant journey to the city is probably by Jadrolinija ferry from Rijeka, which stops at islands and ports such as Zadar, Split, Hvar and Korcula along the way, and takes about 17 hours.

Don't try and reach Dubrovnik by train, however – the city famously has no train station.
