To and From Dubrovnik Airport

There are several options for travelling to and from Rudjer Boskovic Dubrovnik Airport. Whatever option you take, make sure you look at the stunning coastal scenery during the transfer!

To and From Dubrovnik Airport

To and From Dubrovnik Airport – By airport bus

If you’re heading to the Old Town, it is probably advisable to get a bus rather than a taxi. Not only is it cheaper, a taxi obviously can’t get you any closer to your final destination in the pedestrian-only Old Town than a bus would!

Although the bus is timed to coincide with flight arrivals at the airport, you may find yourself having to wait for a little while – no longer than 15 minutes, say – for the bus to arrive. (The bus obviously brings travellers to the airport, too.) If you’re in a particular rush, you may prefer to take a taxi.

The airport bus drops people off at the eastern entrance to the Old Town, Ploce Gate. If you’re staying closer to the western entrance, Pile Gate, it’s a short walk between the two. It’s only about a 10-minute walk either through the Old Town or around the outside of it.

Tickets for the bus cost €10 (€14 return), and there is no extra charge for luggage. Kids under six years old travel free. Once you are seated and before the bus has departed, the driver (or assistant) will come round the bus selling tickets, although you can also buy tickets from the company’s website – Platanus. Journey time is around 30 minutes.

The airport shuttle bus also goes on to the main bus station in Dubrovnik. This is where you should head to if you’re staying on the Lapad/Babin Kuk peninsula. From the main bus station, you could potentially walk to your accommodation or you may find it easier to take a taxi or an Uber; the short journey will not cost much.

The main bus station is also where you should take the bus to if you need to be at Dubrovnik port to take a ferry or catamaran out to an island. The bus station and the port are located adjacent to each other.

To and from Dubrovnik Airport – by local bus

For those not in such a great rush, there are local buses that travel to/from the airport which obviously make a number of stops along the way. Buses 11, 27, 31 and 38 travel between the airport and Dubrovnik; you can also transfer to other buses if your final destination is somewhere else in between. Tickets cost €2.39 if purchased on the bus.

However, these buses don’t run so frequently, so the airport shuttle bus (mentioned in the section above) is really a better and more convenient bus option.

You can find local bus timetables for Dubrovnik at www.libertasdubrovnik.com.

To and from Dubrovnik Airport – by taxi

Not only is there a taxi rank just outside Dubrovnik Airport, but you will find yourself “greeted” by an enthusiastic guy who seems to organise the taxis lined up at the rank. Don’t worry, he’s perfectly legal, but perhaps just a little too eager to offer up the taxis.

A taxi to the Old Town should cost around €30-40.

To and from Dubrovnik Airport – by pre-booked transfer

Tours and experiences company Viator offers transfers from Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik itself, as well as to Cavtat, Orebic and Korcula, and transfers back to the airport too. Click on the links below for details and prices of these transfers – both shared and private ones are available:

From Dubrovnik Airport direct to Korcula

If Dubrovnik isn’t your final destination, then in almost all cases you will first need to transfer to the main bus station (or, I suppose, the port too!) in the city and then travel on.

If you intend to reach the island of Korcula then you can travel directly to there from Dubrovnik Airport. The agency Korkya Info offers a shuttle bus service that connects Dubrovnik Airport with Orebic (on the mainland) and Korcula Town, Lumbarda and Vela Luka on the island, as well as making a few other stops. Timetable and price info – as well as booking options – can be found on their website.
