History of Losinj

Getting to Losinj is relatively straightforward, and – as you’ll see below – there are a number of ferry and bus options available to you.

Losinj does actually have its own airport and there are some flights to it from Croatia and even further afield. More details below!

However, if you’re intending to fly to Croatia to reach Losinj, the nearest large airport is Rijeka Airport on the island of Krk. If you do fly to here, you can then get a bus from Omisalj (the town nearest to Rijeka Airport) direct to the island of Losinj with Arriva.

Arriva run daily buses from Rijeka, which stop at Opatija on the mainland before utilising the Brestova (mainland) – Porozina (Cres) ferry link. These buses then travel down the island of Cres (stopping at Cres Town) and on to Losinj, stopping at Nerezine, Mali Losinj and Veli Losinj along the way. Journey time from Rijeka to Mali Losinj is 3 hours 45 minutes; to Veli Losinj it’s 4 hours.
